Beckley Circle, Leeming

Project Description
Designing a kitchen perfect for a Mechanical Engineer with extreme precision and meticulous design ideas was a task we met with great enthusiasm when our client contacted us with a precise vision to transform his kitchen and living area in Leeming. With a large extended family, our client was looking to modernise a pokey u- shaped kitchen that lacked storage and entertaining space, into a beautifully open and functional space. On top of his wish list was the removal of the traditional brown cabinetry, slate and face brick and creating an island bench with lots of storage capacity.
Client Wish List
• An island bench with off centred seating to one end • Cabinetry on either side of the island bench • A single imported Italian slab for the splashback • A Husky bar fridge opening outwards • Lots of drawer space • 900mm canopy rangehood with custom overhead cabinets to conceal the range hood • Removal of all face brick throughout the living area • Creating a central entertaining space
Renovation Achieved
After just 4 weeks, this space is no longer a tired, brown, outdated kitchen. This kitchen is now a sophisticated, centralised entertaining area, packed with storage space! We successfully doubled the storage space and created island seating for casual meals. We opted for a white and grey palette to visually enhance the space. A single imported Italian slab spanning 3 metres long and 6mm thick has adorned the kitchen splashback as one of the main features, to introduce a sophisticated edge. The Italian porcelain slab brings a sense of luxury to the splashback which complements the 40mm white Stone Ambassador Carrara Mist benchtop, a low maintenance engineered stone top, with seating off to one side. Everyday items including the sink and dishwasher were on a single side, to allow one clear end purely for undivided preparation space and seating. The width of the bench, which is more than double the standard 600mm, certainly allows for huge storage space; the front being a bank of 5 large drawers and the back being an additional row of cabinetry opening outwards. Removal of the structural wall housing the oven tower and pantry has allowed for overhead cabinetry and extra storage options. Additionally, removing the brick faced breakfast bar has not only allowed us to create an island bench, but allows access directly to the kitchen from the living area and directly to the alfresco area, now making this kitchen a centrepiece for both indoor and outdoor entertaining. What was a kitchen limited in terms of entertaining capacity, is now a bright and open plan space for entertaining and blends seamlessly with the new light grey 600x600 porcelain floor tile.
